The Collaborative
CommissionFor Conversations
The Collaborative is a center table created as a platform for meaningful conversation. The bold design elements and starkly low setting of the piece are visually stunning, yet minimal and easy to digest, allowing conversation to flow freely over the table. The piece was imagined as a place where collaborating parties can gather to create shared progress.
Passionately Crafted
The piece is handcrafted from two pieces of Eastern Black Walnut holding a slab of ultra-clear 3/4” Starphire glass. Working in harmony, the prisms support the glass, while the weight of the glass holds the prisms securely in place. Each piece is handcrafted using only hand tools and classic machinery. There is no metal hardware, stain, or any other introduced component of any kind. The dedication to keep the design elements bold yet minimal is a tribute to the personality of the piece: To encourage, not interrupt, conversation.

Process
Each piece is individually made to order, in-house, at the private studio in Lakeland, Florida from solid Eastern Black Walnut. The piece involves approximately 35 hours of labor to create, before applying a specially selected blend of oil and wax clear coat. The finish is applied and cures during a two week process. The process creates a protected surface, while leaving the texture of the grain unaltered. The Starphire glass slabs are individually fabricated to size for the brand in Miami, Florida, and personally inspected on site before delivery to Lakeland. The glass is given a twelve degree bevel on every side, which creates unique and spectacular reflections within the bright glass. Approximate six to eight week lead time.
